Subramanian/Subbu Dada is undoubtedly one of the very few OG fountain pen turners and manufacturers. What's more interesting than the models is his enthusiasm and ability to cater to all the requests of the customers wrt customisation despite them being tedious. My liking for fountain pens started again or I would say was rekindled by Mr. Subramanian of ASA pens. Additionally they are located in my hometown. I may not have all their models but can say with pride hold many of their popular models. Well, It's a pretty affordable handmade pen￾making company from southern India.One needs to buy a ASA pen to get accustomed with the "Indian way" of designing the fountain pen.It’s true that it comes with a german nib and it tries to follow japanese craftsmanship(look at the high￾end models), but at the core,It's an Indian brand with It's typical Indian designs.

I first discovered ASA Pens at the Chennai Pen Show in 2024. What drew me in and eventually led to my first purchase wasn’t just their lovely collection, but the calm and friendly demeanor of the founders, Mr. and Mrs.Subramaniam. Since then, my collection has grown to four: the Yoddha, Azaadi, Thalaivaa, and the immensely popular Nauka. Out of the two or three pens I keep inked for my daily use, at least one is always an ASA. I am using ASA Azadi pen with jowo medium nib.It is extremely smooth & consistent. Pen body is beautiful & sturdy with engraved nib.I happened to damage the nib section accidentally. However,I got extremely good & honest post sales service from Mr Subramaniam. He repaired the sections as if it is a new pain. Sustainability & durability with elegance is what differentiates ASA pens from foreign pen brands.
